Some lovely flowers at the bird park in Obera
A wicked crazy beetle we saw on the walk back from town at night- its eyes lit up phosphorescent green!
Our mud mermaid- a dedication to Ariel (both the intern and the mermaid)
The house coming together beautifully!
WE LOVE MUD!
Mud mixing requires bare feet and lots of enthusiasm. Pine needles add tensile strength to the sand and clay mix.
Recycled car windows getting mudded in.
Kimberly and Marcelo, proprietors of Mama Roja, our teachers and guides, and two FASCINATING and interesting characters.
Crazy shit- this wasp dragged this giant spider around and then FLEW OFF WITH IT. Strongest bug/wasp/superhero EVER.
Sometimes knitting involves praying mantises...manti? There was a mantis on the yarn.
The interns listen, enraptured, as Kimberly instructs us in the ways of soap-making.
Our soap! In 3 weeks it will be ready to use!
Karolina rocks at stirring soap.
Kneading the daily bread.
Our cookstove! Wood-fired and awesome.
Harvesting mandioc in overalls, complete with a jungle backdrop.
The secret behind the lovely jungle backdrop is revealed!
Learning to peel mandioc.
Hammocks are generally restful and relaxing, unless you're being attacked by a chainsaw-bearing crazy Polish hippie.
Monkey finds a special napping place on her new friend Sarah's back.
Our field trip today to a butterfly farm! It was lacking in butterflies, but made up for it in beautiful waterfalls, a river, and trails.
Checking out the waterfall...
...before jumping in!
A lovely swimming area for forest nymphs and humans, in the middle of (what appeared to be) Fern Gully.
We're in town for a little while today so I thought I'd just update with photos while I could! Photo cred to fellow intern and forest nymph Ashley for all but the first 4. Much love to everyone back home and around the world!
